Hello PPSNYS!
It's been quite some time since my last membership-wide message, so this one's loaded with important information.
PPA'S IMAGING USA
To start off, this was the first year Sharon and I headed to New Orleans to attend PPA's Imaging USA. While we were assigned to work the event, we fortunately ran into several friends who've come through PPSNYS throughout the years. (If you don't already know, these lifelong friendships are clearly a priceless member benefit!)
What's exciting, PPSNYS had quite an impressive presence at the event's awards ceremony:
Master of Photography Degree Recipients:
· Dr. Sheila Gardner of Westchester
· David Jeffery of Capital Champlain
· Dana Shaffer, Cr. Photog of Capital Champlain
Photographic Craftsman Degree Recipients:
· Patrick Luke CPP
· Debra Woodard, M. Photog., CPP
Congratulations to each of you!
SPEAKERS BUREAU
In other news, let's talk about the Speakers Bureau. Thanks to Aaron Pepis, the PPSNYS website features a section dedicated to the Speakers Bureau, complete with speakers' names and available programs. Please visit the website to check it out!
If you would like the website updated with your information, please submit an online form to PPSNYS headquarters. All section leaders are advised to take advantage of this new resource!
PHOTO NORTH EAST, INC.
Photo North East convention is right around the corner! As you know, it is the combined convention of PPSNYS and PPANJ. New York and New Jersey joined forces in 2010 at our Albany convention. Thanks to PPSNYS's Deb Woodard and Owen Kassimir and their New Jersey-based counterparts, the event has been met with success.
But let's not let our guard down. Have you signed up yet? The education, the tradeshow, the parties, and the WOW, is all waiting for you. What are you waiting for? Go to www.photonortheast.org and sign up before you miss our biggest annual event! Contact This email address is being protected from spambots. · Stephen Sedman returns to present the very exciting session on The Next Level Weddings.

THE VALUE OF OUR SOCIETY
It's clear: We work hard to strike a balance of education and member benefits! Your officers truly value keeping our more-than-100-year-old organization modern and meaningful.
Our society proudly includes professional, honest, hard-working photographers who can and will share the latest photographic techniques, best practices, and so much more!
Why am I going on about this? Like most state organizations, PPSNYS continues to grapple with internet influence - true professionalism and expertise is at stake. But we all know: You can't get online what you get from membership with PPSNYS!
Can you tell I'm passionate about this? In President Kennedy's inaugural address on January 20, 1961, he said:
"So, my fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country."
To support the value of our industry, you need to do your part. Are you actively advocating for PPSNYS and recruiting members in your neighborhood? If each of us brings in at least one new member, we can ensure survival of our society.
Thank you, and I look forward to seeing you at PNE!
Greg Lewis, CPP
PPSNYS President
